ACTIVE ISOLATED STRETCHING AND STRENGTHENING
AIS is a corrective exercise program developed by Aaron Mattes over 40 years ago. The Mattes Method includes over 200 stretches that are specifically designed to isolate each muscle in a gentle yet effective manner. Unlike many stretching programs, you will not experience pain during and you will not be sore following. Most clients remark about how relaxing the movements make them feel. Each one-on-one session is customized to your specific problem areas or can be generalized to stretch the body from head to toe. The muscle imbalanced are further addressed through isolated strengthening exercises. Any musculoskeletal condition can be helped by AIS including: back pain, neck pain, TMJ, carpal tunnel, rotator cuff tears, and plantar fasciitis. AIS has also been successful with Parkinson's Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, and migraines. Whether you are interested in preventing problems, recovering from surgery, or simply want to enjoy the relaxation of the stretching program, AIS is for you.
Our fitness training focuses on getting you the results you want without leaving you feeling frustrated or causing you pain. Starting a fitness program can be intimidating especially when you walk into a big gym with so much equipment that you have no idea where to start or when you decide to go all out and join a boot camp style program and can barely walk when you are finished. At Balanced Body Solutions, you will train in a studio one-on-one or with a friend or two if you choose and the programs are paced according to your tolerance. Each program is designed around your goals and your body's needs to prevent musculoskeletal imbalances that are often seen in weight training programs. Are services are best suited for women, children, and older adults who are looking to lose weight, tone up, or simply have some guidance.
Far from the traditional sports training programs, we focus on getting the body working correctly first, then progress to more traditional strength and conditioning. Too many athletes are playing hurt or not playing at all because they are hurt. It leads back to muscle imbalances that are left untreated. Think of the amount of power that could be elicted from muscles that are functioning at their optimal level. The mentality that you have to have more muscle to have more power is not true, you just need the muscles you have working properly. Often times, muscles are "lazy" and can simply let the other "stronger" muscles do the work. Until the "lazy" muscles start working more, the risk for injury remains higher and the overall function of the body including power and precision is compromised. Using Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening, we can get the muscles working properly and in turn give you more power, response, and most importantly prevention of injury.
